Looking for an easygoing adventure on the water? Just down the road from our apartments at Olympus Sierra Pines is Lake Woodlands, the perfect place for a fun-filled day out in nature. There’s a lot to do in and around this 200-acre lake, but our favorite activity, hands-down, is paddleboarding. Let us share with you our idea of a picture-perfect day paddleboarding at Lake Woodlands.
Get the Gear
First things first, you gotta roll out of bed a little early. Trust us, it’s worth missing the crowds and beating the heat. Grab a quick bite to eat, maybe a little coffee, and then head to Lakes Edge Boat House & Park by 9 AM (they’re closed on Tuesdays). Here you can pick up your paddleboard rental, which is just $20 for the first hour, sign a waiver, and pick up your life jacket.
Row, Row, Row Your SUP
Now that you’ve got the goods, it’s time to hit the water. Even if you’ve hung out in The Woodlands before, seeing everything from the water just hits you a little differently. Don’t be afraid to take your time and soak it all in. Whether you’re paralleling the park path and watching runners and walkers go by or checking out the dreamy homes that sit right on the water, you’re sure to find that there is no shortage of fun to be had on top of your board.
Wrap Up With Some Grub
There’s no better way to finish a day out on the lake than to fill your belly with good food. Lake Woodlands is right next to Restaurant Row, which means your options are endless. For a satisfying lunch, we recommend checking out Truluck's seafood, steak, and crab house or the always tasty Local Pour.
