Explore Historical Landmarks Near The Woodlands

Whether you're a history buff or you just enjoy learning new things, there are many exciting things in the city to check out. This weekend, plan a visit to these local historical landmarks near our apartments in the Woodlands:

Spring Historical Museum

This free museum is open to the public from Thursday - Sunday. The museum was founded in the 1990s to preserve and celebrate the history of the North Harris area. Fun fact: Spring was named in the 1870s by railroad workers who had braved a harsh winter. When they reached the area, the weather was warmer, so they decided to call it "Camp Spring." You'll find plenty of similarly fascinating facts at this historical museum, which includes exhibits from throughout the decades.

Tomball Museum Center

Sponsored by the Spring Creek County Historical Association, this museum features plenty of fascinating local history. You can tour old homes, a one-room schoolhouse, a pioneer country doctor's office, an outhouse, a log cabin, and more. You can take a guided tour, or you can choose to explore everything on your own. Sometimes this museum center also features special events, including antique car shows and weekends with local students dressed up in historically accurate costumes.

Fernland Historical Park

This attraction is a public park featuring a wide variety of artifacts from the past. The park was founded in 2012 as a place to highlight pioneer-era architecture and objects. Here you'll find log cabins and homes that are actually among some of the oldest in Texas. These structures were carefully and painstakingly preserved by local historians, and they're available to view from Tuesday through Sunday every week.

We hope you enjoy learning more about your town at these historical landmarks near The Woodlands. After you're done exploring, experience a typical pioneer mode of transportation - riding a horse!
