The pandemic has made all our lives more difficult. If there is any solace, it is that we share this struggle together. If you have been feeling like you want to make a difference and connect with others, here are a few ways you can help the San Antonio community.
Support Your Favorite Local Businesses
It’s never easy being a small business owner, but it’s safe to say that 2020 has been one of the hardest years for local business in recent memory. It’s now more important than ever to patronize local shops and restaurants so that they can stay in business, and maybe even discover some new ones.
Don’t feel comfortable going indoors? Many businesses offer curbside pickup or delivery. Good-To-Go San Antonio lets you search retail outlets and restaurants that currently offer curbside pickup, delivery, and/or take-out. If curbside pickup or delivery isn’t your thing – or just isn’t available – you can still offer your support by purchasing gift cards or certificates.
Shop for the Immunocompromised
If you are in good health and have an at-risk friend or family member, you could consider helping them get their daily essentials and provisions for them. Whether that’s stopping by the grocery store biweekly or picking up their medications, you can help them
Donate
If you have the means to do so, donating can be a great way to help nonprofit organizations – all the while staying safe in the process. There are so many local organizations to choose from. By no means an exhaustive list, here are a few organizations that you could consider helping out:
- San Antonio Food Bank
- San Antonio Humane Society
- Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society
- The Cannoli Fund
- Military Veterans Against Child Abuse
- Aspergers101
- Guide Dogs of Texas
