Sept. 18 is Locals Day at the San Antonio Zoo. Entry is just $8 per person with proof of San Antonio residency, giving you free reign of the grounds at less than a third of the cost of a standard admission ticket. Make the most of your trip by hitting up these five can’t-miss exhibits.

Big Cat Valley

It’s hard not to be mesmerized by the power, beauty, and grace of the lions in Big Cat Valley. This is an absolute must-visit, especially if you have Lion King fans in your crew.

Cat Grotto

While not quite as majestic and imposing as the lions over in Big Cat Valley, the smaller cats who call Cat Grotto home are nothing to scoff at. Here, you’ll marvel at creatures like the caracal, clouded leopard, and black-footed cat.

Outpost Amazonia

Here, you’ll find more than 30 species of tropical animals – everything from jaguars and ocelots to monkeys and even a sloth. Yes, please!

Africa Live!
