If you haven’t been to SeaWorld in a while, this spring is a great time to drop by and enjoy everything they have to offer. There’s a lot more than rides and gastronomical treats, after all!
Here’s what’s going on in their world that you won’t want to miss.
Ocean Discovery
This exhibit features beautiful beluga whales and Pacific white-sided dolphins playing with one another and working with SeaWorld’s trainers. You’ll see how sociable and intelligent these creatures are throughout the show, which inspires many visitors to explore ways to contribute to the protection of ocean habitats and the species that live within them.
Killer Whale Tour
Don’t be fooled by their name – these mammals are intelligent, frisky, and fun. This tour will allow you to get up close and personal with them, as their trainers share personal stories and unique facts. You’ll learn what kind of care killer whales (orcas) need on a day-to-day basis and what it’s like for them living at SeaWorld. Best of all, you’ll get to feed and play with them!
Orca Encounter
This is a great way to learn more about killer whales without the personal touch of the Killer Whale Tour. This exhibit showcases the orca’s love of play and how that instinct affects other behaviors, including hunting patterns. You’ll also learn about SeaWorld’s investment in this species and how they are contributing to the protection of killer whales. By the end of this experience, you’ll understand why orcas have been so important to conservationists – despite being powerful predators, they are still incredibly vulnerable as their habitat is continually threatened by pollution and industry.
Mardi Gras
You don’t have to go to New Orleans to enjoy the Mardi Gras celebration – SeaWorld is bringing it right here to San Antonio. The event runs through Feb. 27 and includes everything you’d expect from the real deal. There will be flamboyant costumes, zydeco bands, and delicious Creole and Cajun food including po-boys, dirty rice, jambalaya, and beignets. Throw on some beaded necklaces and head out before the festivities end!
