THREE GREAT LAKES NEAR SACHSE

|

If you're looking to spend a day out on the water or just looking to relax on the shore, head out to a nearby lake located an hour or less away from downtown Sachse.

Here are a few favorites:

Lake Lavon

Lake Lavon is a short 20 minute drive northeast of downtown Sachse and covers nearly 22,000 acres. This area is popular for camping, fishing, skiing, boating, and more outdoor activities. The nearest parks to Sachse are Avalon Park, Lavonia Park, and Little Ridge Park where there are restrooms, swimming areas, picnic tables and grills, pavilions, boat ramps, and docks.

Lake Ray Hubbard

Located approximately 15 minutes away from Sachse and just south of Lake Lavon is one of the largest lakes in the area, Lake Ray Hubbard. Similar in size to its northern neighbor, this 22,000 acre lake is great for both water and land activities. The Rowlett Nature Trail runs along the southwestern portion of the lake for over a mile. Interstate 30 runs across the center of the lake, which makes traveling around the lake highly accessible and quick.

Lake Tawakoni

Lake Tawakoni is about an hour east of Sachse in the nearby town of Quinlan. Although farther away, this nearly 40,000 acre lake features nearly 400 acres of oak forest, as well as opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, and geocaching. The Lake Tawakoni State Park located on the southern side of the lake hosts many local events open to the public such as group and tour-guided hikes, triathlons, and fishing tournaments.
