Food Network Star Guy Fieri travels from coast to coast in search of the country's best greasy spoon restaurants that have been doing it right for decades.
If you would like to eat at a restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, those near Olympus Woodbridge include:
Known as the hippest secret on Henderson, Louie's is a local institution with a long list of awards. Established by bar legend Louis Canelakes, its pure Chicago tavern atmosphere comes complete with seven big screens and memorabilia from the many celebrities who have walked through the doors. In the kitchen, the chefs make the meals from fresh ingredients, while the bartenders create an array of craft cocktails. The menu includes ribeye steak, corned beef sandwiches, and filet of sole.
At the Pecan Lodge, the motto is "Where's There's Smoke, There's Flavor." The restaurant was named after the owner's grandfather's ranch in Abilene, and it's anchored in memories of cooking with his grandparents. Shortly after opening, lines formed down the block, and Texas Monthly named the Pecan Lodge one of the "Top Four Barbecue Joints in the World." The barbecue pits burn 24/7, and nearly all of the menu offerings are made from scratch. Offerings include beef ribs, handmade sausage, and chopped brisket sandwiches.
Twisted Root Burger Co.
The Twisted Root Burger Co. was born after chefs Jason Bolo and Quincy Hart decided to open an eatery featuring half-pound, fresh ground burgers. They met in culinary school, and the restaurant appeared on the second season of Diners, Drive-ins & Dives in 2009. Twisted Root is also known for its funky atmosphere, and guests always receive fast, friendly service. Burgers include In the Buff, The Verde, and The Happy Pilgrim.
