Step back in time at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. It preserves, interprets, and celebrates the rich history of Texas and the United States. Here is some of what the park offers near our Sachse apartments:
Farmers Branch Keenan Cemetery
Dating back to 1843, the Farmers Branch Keenan Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Dallas County. Many of the headstones feature designs and drawings. They often have special meanings, and you can discover them by enjoying the Cemetery Symbolism Scavenger Hunt. Look for doves, lambs, clocks, and more.
Dodson House
Constructed in 1937, the Dodson House was the home of William and Maude Dobson and their only child. Six years later, the couple realized the mistake of building the house too close to a flood-prone creek. They moved it about 200 feet and added a sunroom. In 1986, 90-year-old Maude recounted how she always allowed William to purchase the furniture because he had such marvelous taste.
General Store
A replica, the General Store was modeled after three 1920s Farmers Branch shops. Many of the products on display are reproductions of items that would have been sold during this time period. The store was built in 2012 in memory of JoAnn Elliot Bond. Her family owned a local chain of hardware stores, and she was the first president of the Friends of the Farmers Branch Historical Park.
Activities
Don't miss the park's fun activities. Each season brings something new to enjoy. Highlights include DIY classes, vintage baseball, adult egg hunts, and learning about the dirty jobs that keep a farm running.
After spending the day at the Farmers Branch Historical Park, enjoy a juicy burger at a nearby restaurant. If you would like to call Olympus Woodbridge home, please contact our leasing team. They will gladly show you the amenities and floor plans our apartments in Sachse have to offer.
