Sometimes it takes going out and enjoying fun seasonal events with family and friends to get into the holiday spirit. If you’re looking for things to do this time of year, try out these local events this December for some seasonal fun.

Visit With Santa

If someone wants to share their wish list with Santa, they’ll have the perfect opportunity at the Sachse Christmas Extravaganza. On December 8th, the Christmas Extravaganza kicks off at 6 PM with a lighted Christmas Parade in Sachse. After the parade, the Tree Lighting ceremony takes place at 7 PM in front of City Hall. Then you'll have the chance to visit Santa in the City Hall rotunda. Other activities include a petting zoo, storytime, cookies, train rides, and a Winter Wonderland Surprise.

Painting with a Twist - Family Day!

At Painting with a Twist, guests can relax, socialize, and learn to paint. Some scheduled events are specifically designated as “Family Day” or “Family Night”" which means that artists of all ages are welcome to come and enjoy the experience. At the Garland location, you'll find several upcoming events where artists can paint a reindeer, a neon dragon, a unicorn, Christmas candy, a holiday Llama, Kids Christmas Tree, a snowman, and more. Let It Sew - Fall ’21

Keep the fun going all month long with the Let It Sew - Fall '21 event. Located at the Wylie Recreation Center from December 27 to December 30, this event will teach you how to operate a sewing machine and create a stuffed winter fox, soup bowl hot pad, owl hand warmers, and more. At the same time, participants will be working on fine motor skills, increasing STEAM principles and developing their problem-solving skills. This is a fun and educational experience.
