The Dallas Fort Worth region is all about fun this month. You won’t be short on opportunities to enjoy yourself and celebrate the season. Here are a few events to add to your calendar.
Pumpkin Prowl
Described as an Easter egg hunt with an autumnal theme (replace the eggs with mini pumpkins) and you’ve got yourself an evening of fun for all ages. But there’s a lot more than a hunt for pumpkins – you’ll also find a haunted hayride presented by the Sachse High School Theater Team, concessions sold by the Sachse Baseball Association, and a movie, hosted by the Sachse Chamber of Commerce. Head over to Salmon Park on Saturday, October 16 at 6:00 PM to enjoy the festivities.
Sachse Fallfest
October 23 is the 36th Annual Fallfest over at Heritage Park. It will feature live music, delicious food, exhibits, and over 100 local vendors. It’s a popular event, drawing thousands of people from the area, so be sure to get there early (they open at 10:00 AM) and enjoy all its offerings.
Bloomin’ Bluegrass Festival
For 12 years, this festival has been uplifting and celebrating bluegrass music in the Dallas Fort Worth region. This year, the show will feature a dozen artists and bands including Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Sister Sadie, The Purple Hulls, and Texas & Tennessee. The event takes place on Friday and Saturday, October 15 and 16, at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. Be sure to get your tickets sooner rather than later!
Dallas Soul Food Festival
Dallas is famous for its food festivals, and this one is no different. It takes place at Montgomery Street’s Lofty Spaces on Sunday, October 24 from 12:00-7:00 PM. You’ll find some of the best Southern food here including candied yams, fried chicken, barbecue, tacos, pork chops, oxtails, and funnel cake. There will also be several vendors there, which means you’ll get a great meal and will have the chance to get some shopping done, too!
