Enjoy a Day at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land
For a fun-filled day, head to the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land. It's found inside what was once the main unit of the Central State Prison Farm and features fascinating exhibitions, special attractions, and more. Here is some of what the museum has to offer near our Richmond apartments:
Space Science
Step into Space Science to see the incredible images produced from the Hubble Telescope. About the size of a large school bus, it was launched into orbit in April 1990. The telescope has a crystal-clear view of the universe, and has captured more than 1.5 million images since being launched. Space Science also features a collection of meteorites that crashed into Earth.
Hall of Technology
One of the newest exhibits, the Hall of Technology opened to celebrate the tenth anniversary of HMNS at Sugar Land. It covers several areas of scientific interest including energy, geology, and chemistry. As you explore, you can learn about basic chemistry theories, see the inner elements of a cell phone, and much more.
Expedition Egypt
Open through September 5, 2022, Expedition Egypt is where you'll become a junior archeologist. Your newfound job will have you searching for relics, discovering mummies, and solving the Riddle of the Sphinx. The fun also includes building pyramids and learning the hieroglyphic alphabet.
Museum Store
Finally, end your visit in the Museum Store. It features a wide selection and helps visitors "bring the wonders of the natural world home." Offerings include books on minerals, science kits, and fossil mammoth earrings. Members always save ten percent. For your convenience, the store also provides online shopping and will ship your order straight to your home.
