Hybrid mattresses have become very popular in the past few years – and with good reason. They’re comfortable, affordable, and offer multiple amenities that traditional mattresses don’t have. That doesn’t mean they’re right for everyone, however.

Check out these pros and cons before you decide to purchase one.

Pro: Metal Coil Springs

Metal coil springs keep a mattress firmer a lot longer, as well as keeping it breathable, which is hugely beneficial to people who get very hot when they’re sleeping. It’s also critical for couples because it displaces motion, keeping both people well-supported and comfortable.

Con: Cost

Though hybrid mattresses are not necessarily expensive (you’ll find them comparable to the cost of traditional mattresses), they are definitely more expensive than memory foam mattresses. However, memory foam mattresses do not last as long as hybrids, which means hybrids will pay for themselves over time.

Pro: Back Protection

Hybrid mattresses, thanks to their perfect blend of coils and foam, are great for preventing back pain. They provide the support of a traditional mattress with the softness of a foam mattress – a perfect blend for maintaining your back health. Con: Heavy & Cumbersome

With all its layers and coils, hybrid mattresses tend to be quite heavy. Further, they are cumbersome to move. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but for some, it might be considered a con. If you move a lot, you might want to skip the hybrid. Also consider how often you flip your mattress or like to rearrange the furniture. If you live alone or want something easy to move around, this might not be the right choice for you.

Pro: Long-Lasting

When you invest in a hybrid mattress, you can be sure it’ll last for a long while, thanks to its coils that will help it retain its shape. It costs more than memory foam mattresses, but hybrid mattress owners will argue that they are worth every penny.
