From tacos and enchiladas to fajitas and seafood meals, Tex-Mex is as iconic as baseball. And what better place to enjoy Tex-Mex than in Texas itself? Luckily, Odessa is home to some of the state’s finest Mexican restaurants. Here are our favorite Mexican restaurants near our apartments in Odessa.

Rosa's Café & Tortilla Factory

Rosa’s is the quintessential Tex-Mex chain restaurant. Expect the usuals: crunchy golden tacos, smothered enchiladas, and (of course) crispy thin tostadas. On the surface, there’s not much separating Rosa’s Cafe & Tortilla Factory from any other traditional, Texas-based Mexican restaurant. But once you bite into an extra-salty chip smothered in thick guacamole or you indulge in melting mounds of smothered burritos, you’ll understand why this place is a local hotspot. It’s simple, semi-traditional, and most of all, it’s quite tasty.

Dumplins Y Amigos

It’s hard to pinpoint Dumplins Y Amigos. There are few restaurants where enchiladas sit next to chicken fried steak and bacon and egg breakfasts. But this hyper-local restaurant somehow musters the strength to deliver a variety of food without compromising quality or taste. Technically, it’s hard to even call this a place that serves Mexican food near Odessa. It’s more like a smorgasbord of comfort meals. Mexican food is certainly on the menu. But don’t restrict yourself. We highly recommend the Shrimp A La Mexicana. Plump and pink steamed shrimp combine with spiced tomato chunks and slightly-spicy jalapenos to make this dish a local hit. While you’re there, grab a Mexican Coke. Its cane sugar undertones will help offset any of the fragrant and spicy salsas you’re guzzling down.

Dos Compadres

We’re big fans of fajitas. Piping hot pans, thinly sliced beef, fragrant onions, and perfectly red peppers are the perfect companions for soft tortillas. So, we want to give a big shout-out to Dos Compadres. This place knows fajitas. From traditional to vegetarian-friendly portobello mushrooms, this is the place to go for your fajita kick.
