A good coffee shop isn't just about good coffee. It's about comfort, atmosphere, and camaraderie. It's a place to unwind or to rev up, to read the newspaper or to people watch. There are several such venues in Odessa where the coffee is tasty and the faces are friendly.
Cpl. Ray's Coffee
Cpl. Ray's Coffee has a story. Ray is a fallen soldier and son of owners, the Bevels. They chose to honor their son by opening a coffee shop in his name. That was in 2007 in the small town of Andrews. They now have three locations including one in Odessa. The coffee shop is a favorite with local veterans. Specialty coffees and home-baked treats are always available seven days a week.
French Press Cafe
French Press Cafe is a coffee shop with a European twist. Owner Kristel Tate and her daughter, Tabytha, returned from a trip to Paris with one thing in mind - opening a French-style coffee shop and bakery. The French Press Cafe was born in 2016 right in the heart of downtown Odessa. Everything is served with a bit of a Parisian twist. You can order a cafe au lait to go with a homemade quiche or croissant.
Thirsty Turtle Coffee Co.
Thirsty Turtle Coffee Co. is a small coffee store with an enormous selection of drinks. Their hot mochas and latte specials are popular but it's their iced coffee and tea concoctions that give Starbucks a run for its money. The coconut cream sweet tea and passion fruit lemonade are summer favorites. Combine all that with friendly baristas and great prices and you've got a winner.
