The Ector County Library in Odessa Offers Books and More

Since 1938, the Ector County Library has been a cornerstone of the Odessa community. It began from humble beginnings, and today, it features everything from books to fun programs. Here is some of what the library offers near our Odessa apartments:

Southwest History & Genealogy Department

Found on the second floor, the Southwest History & Genealogy Department boasts a fabulous collection of materials covering Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, and New Mexico. It can also help you complete your family tree. The Genealogy Department features three full-time staff members who can answer all your genealogy questions. Materials are available for worldwide research, and patrons can access Ancestry.com in the first floor computer lab.

Books Set in Texas

The collection features thousands of books, including those set in the Lone Star State. Don't miss Rainwater. Penned by award-winning author Sandra Brown, this romantic historical fiction novel follows Ella Baron as she runs a boarding house in Dust Bowl, Texas. When a new boarder arrives, little does she know her life is about to change.

Friends of the Ector County Library

If you're looking for a way to give back, the Friends of the Ector County Library is a group dedicated to "promoting the library and increasing its services." The group is always looking for volunteers. Duties include re-stocking shelves and sorting through donations. You can also help the Friends by donating your unwanted books, magazines, puzzles, and more.

If you don't have a library card, stop by the Circulation Department. You will need a photo ID and can speed up the process by printing the application online. After visiting the library, enjoy pizza for dinner at a nearby restaurant. To call Sedona Ranch home, please contact us.
