Midland has a new treasure in town and it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood! Texas Sun Winery opened its doors this summer and the community couldn't be happier. History
The first urban winery in Midland, the tastefully renovated space of Texas Sun Winery boasts over 4000 square feet but manages to maintain a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. A wide variety of handcrafted wines using grapes grown all over the world are waiting to be experienced. The owners, Kevin and Teresa Miller, will eagerly provide an animated tour of the facility and the wine-making process. The winery also features a bistro offering a light fare menu.
The Wine
The wines at Texas Sun are creatively named and purposely original. The white wines are aromatic, unique, and one-of-a-kind. You can sip the Denim & Diamonds with its green apple flavor or enjoy a glass of Pink Sunglasses for a fruity foray. The red wines are hearty and rich with a character of their own. Fanciful choices include Rodeo Rampage, an earthy Argentinian Malbec, or the Dancing Coyote, a spicy California Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery also has ice cold sangria on tap with a varied selection of port and sparkling wines. Sampling is encouraged!
The Bistro
The bistro kitchen at Texas Sun Winery is a pleasant refuge of freshness offering Boar's Head meats and cheeses, crisp salads, and a smorgasbord of flatbreads and hummus. The menu cleverly suggests the ideal wine pairing to go with your meal. Cheese and vegetable platters, as well as panini sandwiches, can be enjoyed while relaxing in the indoor seating area or on the nature-inspired outdoor patio. A private room is available for meetings and special events. Groups are invited to adopt a batch of wine and host a bottling party for a memorable get together with friends and family.
Extras
Guests of the winery can check a board in the tasting room to see the list of wines currently in the tanks, choose a favorite, and bottle their own to take home. It's a hands-on adventure with the wine-making process. Customized labels can be made while you wait and there are several sample templates to choose from or email your own photo for a personalized touch. It's a unique gift idea for wine-lovers!
