MAKE YOUR BEDROOM A ZEN RETREAT WITH THESE FENG SHUI TIPS

|

The ancient Chinese art of feng shui can help make your bedroom more restful, relaxing, and romantic by designing your surroundings in harmony with the principles of natural energy flow. Here are three tips to get you started.

Choose the Right Color Scheme

In feng shui, certain colors are believed to promote peaceful, restful vibes and sensuality in the bedroom. A general rule of thumb is to opt for warm tones or muted shades you'd find in nature, such as:

  • Off-White

  • Cream

  • Chocolate

  • Soft Browns

  • Terracotta

  • Peach Tones

Peach is considered very effective at attracting a partner, but not necessarily at keeping a partner. So it should be limited to an accent tone on pillows, throws, and accessories. Touches of hot pink and red can also increase the romantic vibes.

Position Your Bed Correctly

According to feng shui principles, the best position for your bed is as far away from the door as possible while still allowing you to see the entrance. This allows for a subconscious feeling of safety and protection while you rest. You should also avoid placing your bed under a window, because it lacks the support and protection of a solid wall.

Declutter Your Space

Clutter can be a symbol for unfinished business and impedes forward progress. Streamline your furnishings, keeping only the essential pieces, and minimize the clutter on nightstands and other surfaces in your bedroom to allow chi (energy) to flow freely. Add plants in the corners of your space to help prevent energy from stagnating there. The negative energy caused by clutter under your bed can also disturb your sleep, so try to find other spots to store those items, or at least keep them organized and contained.
