Find Your Next Read at the Centennial Library in Midland

The Centennial Library is the Go-to Spot to Get Books in Midland

A quick drive from our Midland apartments, the Centennial Library started from humble beginnings inside the Midland Park Mall in 1985. Today, the library calls its own building home and features everything from classic books to unique exhibits. Here is some of what you can discover during your visit:

Exhibits

Throughout the year, the library hosts fun, interactive exhibits that take advantage of its large space. They're free to enjoy, and every theme is complemented by programs, materials, and library books.

John and Rosalind Redfern Genealogical Research Center

In 1968, a chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution donated a small collection of genealogical research books to the Midland County Public Libraries. Over the years, donations continued to be given by societies and individuals. The collection later became known as the John and Rosalind Redfern Genealogical Research Center, and it's one of the top five genealogy libraries in Texas. You'll find the center features over 60,000 items from around the world. It also offers access to resources like the Ancestry Library Edition, HeritageQuest, and Newspapers.com.

Texas Authors

Ask about reading the works of Texas authors. One of the writers you don't want to miss is Ted Dekker. He was born in Indonesia and later settled in western Colorado before moving to Austin. Ted has penned more than 40 books, selling more than 15 million copies. Adult fiction titles include Showdown, Heaven's Wager, and Rise of the Mystic.

Hoopla

With Hoopla, you'll have the library at your fingertips, day or night. It offers eBooks, movies, magazines, and more. You can check out up to five titles every month and never have to worry about waitlists or holds. A valid library card is required. That’s right! This library isn’t just a great place to get physical books in
Midland, you can get eBooks, magazines, movies, and plenty more.
