Here at Sundance Creek, we love to see our residents spruce up their patios each season. Bring a little joy to yourself, and your neighbors, and take part in our upcoming Fall Patio Decorating Contest, taking place September 24-28. Not sure where to start on your patio decorating adventures? We’re digging into five easy tips to help you win our patio decorating contest.
Choose a Theme
There are many different angles you can take your porch patio decorating. Choose a theme that you love and stick with it. Fall theme examples include:
- Spooky Halloween
- Black & Orange Halloween
- Fresh Fall Foliage
- Pumpkin Central
It’s okay to do a combination of themes, but make sure to do it in a tasteful, non-overpowering way.
Add Natural Elements
Even though the true growing season is on its way out, fall is full of beautiful foliage options to brighten your entrance or patio. Stock up on mums of all sizes. Corn stalks add a natural, whimsy element. And garland, wreaths, and gourds all make a statement in their own way. Not into the traditional orange and brown fall colors? Pick a color palette that you love, and make it work.
Craft Time
You can often tell when something is made with care and love. Take time to DIY some patio decorating elements. Head to your craft store and load up on supplies to make a fall wreath. Buy a wood crate and set up a greeting sign with mini pumpkins.
Make The Space Work for You
Just because you’re decking your patio out to scream “It’s fall, y’all” doesn’t mean it can’t still be a functional space. If you have any plaid blankets, throw those atop a chair for your sitting area. Make a temporary footrest using a hay bale. Use burlap as a backdrop. It’s your space. Make those cozy fall feels shine through.
Create a Fall Crate Display
You don’t have to go all out to make a statement. Grab a few crates from the craft store and create a display that suits your decor style. Paint the crates, and add some height to your porch by stacking pumpkins and fall plants on top. Line the bottom with hay to complete the look.
The Sundance Creek Fall Patio Decorating Contest is around the corner! Take these five tips and let your patio shine this fall.
