Looking for a getaway that won’t require getting too far away? With spring break looming and a much-anticipated summer on the horizon, it’s time to check out the coolest staycations in and around Keller, Texas. This year, post up a little closer to home at these five amazing local properties.
Old Car Overdrive
If you’ve never slept in a shipping container, this quirky spot in Keller is as good a reason to try it as any! Decked out with a vintage Chevy truck theme, the property features furniture fashioned from car parts – note the tailgate bench – and fun Americana decor. Plus, you’ll enjoy evenings on the container-top around the gas fire pit.
Perfect Yurt
For a nice blend of comfort and adventure, check out this glamping yurt on Grapevine Lake northeast of Keller. With enough finishes to make you feel pampered, you’ll get a great night’s rest, and then wake up to pleasant views of the lake. After a day out on the water, hang out on the patio for a barbecue, and watch for a beautiful Texas sunset.
Race Home
Sleeping at an apartment above the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth is probably an experience weird enough that everyone should do it! Check out a funky spot like this one, which offers a racing-themed mural (why not?) and racing memorabilia everywhere. The highlight, of course, is the row of floor-to-ceiling windows that give you views of the racetrack from the living space.
Hang It Up in a Hangar
Why would you not want to take your staycation in a beautiful, modern apartment with high-end finishes, gorgeous bathrooms, and comfortable beds? Especially if it’s in an airplane hangar? This sweet property at Hicks Airfield delivers a unique experience and then some. You can pull right in with your prop plane if you’ve got one – but thankfully, you don’t have to be a pilot to enjoy a stay here.
Escape at the Lake
Quaint lakeside cottage, or luxe modern vacation home? Why not choose both? Located in Flower Mound on the north side of Grapevine Lake, this local getaway features a beautiful, open living space with a custom staircase, four bedrooms, and a total of nine beds for a rockin’ get-together spot. Spend your evenings on the large outdoor deck, luxuriating in the hot tub, or shut yourself away in the gorgeous upstairs master at the top of the A-frame, beautifully designed with whitewashed wood beams and planks.
