Texas Chile Short Rib Tacos
In this recipe from Food & Wine magazine, cookbook authors Matt and Ted Lee combine two Texas favorites – short ribs and tacos – into one entree. A little semisweet chocolate balances the tangy barbecue-style sauce for the tender beef short ribs. Sounds crazy, but it totally works.
Shrimp Tacos with Pickled Red Onion Salad
Spicy southwestern barbecue shrimp with a bright, vinegary slaw is a perfect taco combination. You can order these mouthwatering tacos at chef Dean Fearing’s eponymous restaurant at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Dallas, or follow along with Fearing’s how-to video on his Facebook page and make them yourself at home. Using ready-made sauce and salad dressing makes meal prep quick and easy, or you can go the whole nine yards and make them yourself with this recipe.
Bobby Flay’s Fish Tacos
For a lighter taco option, celebrity chef Bobby Flay’s grilled fish tacos, made with a meaty white fish such as mahi mahi or orata, are a great option. A classic cabbage slaw adds crunch, and the homemade pureed tomato salsa with serrano and jalapeno chiles, hot sauce, garlic, and fresh seasonings brings the heat. Mmmm!
Thai Chicken Tacos
You’ve probably had a chicken taco at least once in your life. But have you ever had a Thai chicken taco? What should be an exotic culture clash becomes a successful culinary fusion in this East meets West taco recipe from chef and food blogger Lindsay Johnson, courtesy of the Mountain Mama Cooks website. The chili, garlic, cilantro, and lime flavors of classic chicken tacos are married with Thai ingredients like peanuts, ginger, tamari, and sriracha to create an incredible dish.
