Mountain biking is a great way to explore the wonders of the natural world.
If you would like to enjoy some cycling fun, the best trails around Katy include:
Memorial Park Trail
Memorial Park offers ten miles of multi-use trails for cycling, hiking, and running. Many are singletrack, and riders looking for a challenge will want to try the yellow path. It's the fastest of the trails and features roots and banks to maneuver over, as well as sections with thirty-foot drop-offs.
Along with mountain biking, visitors can also enjoy recreational activities such as croquet, tennis, and swimming. Those who are hungry can enjoy a meal from one of the food trucks near the Eastern Glades.
The Anthills
Found at Terry Hershey Park, The Anthills is an intermediate singletrack trail. Nestled along the bank of Buffalo Bayou, it offers a fun twisty ride with plenty of twists and turns. The section along the river bank is the easiest, and in the middle, riders find steep, but short climbs.
George Bush Park Hike & Bike Trail
The George Bush Park Hike & Bike Trail starts at the west end of the Terry Hershey Park Trail. Together, they combine for a continuous 22-mile ride. The trail meanders through a wooded area, and riders may see an egret family and be entertained by quacking ducks.
Cullen Park Hike & Bike Trail
Cullen Park encompasses more than 10,500 acres, and it offers a 4.2-mile path for bikers and hikers. It provides a quiet ride, and many visitors feel as though they're outside of the city. Along the way, cyclists see a small airport, dozens of birds, and an 1800s cemetery.
