STAY FIT WHILE SOCIAL DISTANCING

|

Whatever is going on with the rest of the world, it’s important to keep your mind and body healthy. Not only does exercise improve your mental health and mood, but it also reduces your risk of diseases and ailments down the road. While the gym might not be an option for you right now, we’ve come up with a few ideas for ways to stay fit while social distancing.

Outdoor Workouts

Hands down, the best place to take advantage of a solo workout is outdoors. Go for a run, hike, or bike ride, or even hit up some circuit training at a local park. Not only can you control who you are around, but being outdoors also boosts your mood and provides a healthy dose of Vitamin D. Keep in mind that you still need to keep your distance from others, even if you’re outdoors. If that seems like it will still be an issue, consider investing in an exercise-friendly face mask.

At-Home Online Workouts

At-home workouts can be as simple or as complex as you want them to be. There are several workout videos and programs offered that you can do in the comfort of your own home, free of charge or for a minimal monthly fee. YouTube has practically every workout you can imagine, from yoga to kickboxing to stretching. Beachbody On Demand is another great resource, which offers a full library of workouts to choose from for a low annual fee. Another amazing spot for virtual workouts? Instagram. Not just for pretty pictures, the app has several accounts that offer sweat-dripping results.

At-Home Equipment Workouts

Need something a little more intense? The ever-so-popular Peloton exercise bike allows you to live-stream spin classes, which really ups the excitement. Or race your friends, and get the motivation you need to stay in shape. If cycling isn’t your thing, there are a variety of home gym workout systems and trainers that might be more up your alley.

Don’t let social distancing keep you from being your best self, test out a few of these solo workouts and find your groove. For more tips on living healthy every day, visit the Olympus Grand Crossing blog.
