The beer scene in the Houston region has been going strong since 1994. This is the home of the very first craft brewery in the state, in fact, so you know the breweries here will be the best that Texas can offer.
Here are some local favorites that you won’t want to miss.
No Label Brewing Company
This local brewery, right here in Katy, offers a great selection of robust and unique beers. Their fruity, sweet 1980 Kolsch is a popular choice for customers, as well as the El Hefe Hefeweizen laced with notes of clove, citrus, and banana. Be sure to regularly check their calendar to catch their sales, as well as attend their fun events, like bingo night.
Saint Arnold Brewing Company
Here it is: the aforementioned very first brewing company in Texas. These are the folks that started it all. Saint Arnold is all about perfecting the craft. Their crew is involved in every single part of the beer-making experience from brewing to bottling. The H-Town Pils embodies the character of Houston – as they say, it’s “balanced, complex, and welcoming.” Or try the Juicy IPA, tropical and heavy on the hops. They also carry a great selection of ciders and a wicked menu stacked with pizza, sandwiches, and burgers.
Battlehops Brewing
This brewery is also a board game café, making it the perfect place to go for some good times hanging out with friends. You can drop by and order your beer (and a burger, if you like!) and choose from a library of over 400 board games to play while you enjoy your drink. Beer and boardgames: It’s a perfect marriage!
Twisted Acre Brewery
Though it’s a bit of a drive, the short trip to Cypress will be worth it. This fun brewery provides tons of entertainment opportunities for locals. You’ll find regular live music shows there, Friday night karaoke, and trivia nights. Be sure to follow their Facebook page so you’ll know what’s coming up on their events calendar.
Baa Baa Brewhouse
Though currently closed to onsite patrons, you can still order your favorite Baa Baa beers and take advantage of their drive-thru pickup. You’ll definitely want to try the Baa Code IPA and the Big Sheep Kolsch.
