If there’s one thing we know how to do in Texas, it’s eat. So why not celebrate this holiday season by doing what we do best? Check out these four destination dining spots from Olympus Grand Crossing and enjoy some top-notch food around the Texas Triangle.
Goldee’s Barbecue, Fort Worth
In a state known for its killer barbecue, we have to start our list with the barbecue joint that earned the No. 1 spot on Texas Monthly’s list this year. While they’re not a household name like some of the other spots around DFW, Goldee’s Barbecue delivers where it counts: the meats. A straightforward menu featuring brisket, pork ribs, and house sausage leads into food that’s delightfully simple, relies on amazing natural flavors, and is always cooked to perfection. Located on the south side of Fort Worth, Goldee’s is well worth the drive.
Foreign & Domestic, Austin
For a great meal in Austin, head to Foreign & Domestic, where they serve up New American fare that perfectly balances the familiar and the adventurous, a fitting reflection of Austin’s position on the creative vanguard of Texas culture. Dig into the Parisian gnocchi with oyster mushrooms, amaranth, and koji butter, or take down the rib-sticking Berkshire pork chop, served with their ominously named – and exceptionally good – bloody butcher grits.
Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery, San Antonio
There’s no trendier place to take your dinner out in San Antonio than the upscale development (and foodie haven) Pearl, and Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery is the star. Located in a historic and beautifully renovated building, they serve up comfort food with coastal flair, and their seasonally shifting menu, featuring locally sourced ingredients, always keeps things fresh. Try their super-cool starters, like the wood-fired pretzel with beer cheese and the South Texas Antelope Tartare, and for the main, you can’t miss their famous pressure-fried chicken.
Potente, Houston
From Katy, you won’t have to travel far to one of Houston’s hottest restaurants, but this is destination dining nonetheless. Situated near Minute Maid Park, Potente serves up otherworldly homemade pastas, along with daily seafood selections and decadent steaks. While there are no misses on the menu, there’s one item you’ll have to try. Their famed dish Spaghetti al Tartufo Nero, a delicious and decadent pasta served with Burgundy black truffles, was recently named one of the best pastas in the country by Food Network.
