Whether you’re an art aficionado, or you’re just looking for a fascinating way to spend an hour or two on a free weekend, the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit Houston is well worth a visit. Its run in Houston has just been extended through Feb. 6, 2022, so you’ll have plenty of time to make it to this eye-popping sensory experience that digitally brings the 19th century Dutch painter, Vincent van Gogh’s, famous works to life on an epic scale.
An Innovative New Way of Encountering Art
This is not an exhibit, it’s an experience! Instead of paintings hanging on a wall, this 360-degree digital exhibit features massive, 20-foot-tall animated projections of 40 of the artist’s works along with an original soundtrack. Lose yourself in Van Gogh’s genius and madness when you’re dwarfed by a garden of gently rippling irises. Find yourself surrounded by the dazzling nightscape of The Starry Night, and take a seat at the table with The Potato Eaters.
How Long Does It Take?
The 40 works are displayed one at a time in a continuous loop, with each cycle lasting around 35 minutes. Many visitors stay through two or even three cycles in order to take it all in from different perspectives. The size and scope of the high-resolution projections let you get up close and see the minute details of the vivid colors and swirling brushstrokes that Van Gogh is renowned for.
Venue & Ticket Details
The Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit runs through Feb. 6 in a converted warehouse at 1314 Brittmoore Road near Bear Creek Pioneers Park in Northwest Houston. Tickets are available online and directly at the box office, subject to availability. Prices range from $29.99 to $54.99 (plus fees) for standard timed admission, with Flex tickets offering a wider window for admission starting at $49.99, and VIP Flex tickets starting at $79.99 that also include priority access and souvenir items. Timed tickets have a strict arrival window of 20 minutes within your scheduled attendance start time.
