4 QUICK I-10 ROAD TRIPS TO TAKE THIS SPRING

|

If you’ve caught a case of spring fever and are itching to get out and about, you’re in luck: the I-10 is peppered with dozens of fun destinations within half a day’s drive.

The next time you need to get on the road, consider one of these stops for an extra special road trip.

Kerrville

How about a long weekend enjoying some of Texas’ best wine? Head out to Kerrville, just three and a half hours away, and visit the elegant, welcoming tasting room at Kerrville Hills Winery. Founder John Rivenburgh has 15 years of experience in the wine industry and has a passion for working with Texas grapes and creating sustainable farming and wine-making practices. For accommodations, book a Bird’s Nest Guest Cottage, where you can stay in a cozy bungalow right on the Guadalupe River.

San Antonio

You’ll never run out of things to do in this historic city. Of course, you’ll have to stop by The Alamo and truly take in the significance of its role in Texas’ history. Nearby is the San Antonio River Walk, a stunning 15-mile trail and riverside park experience that showcases both the city’s rich history and its natural beauty. You might also want to add the San Antonio Botanical Garden to your must-see list, as well as the Missions National Historical Park (The Alamo isn’t the only mission in the city), Natural Bridge Caverns, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Beaumont

If you love spending time outdoors, this is the destination for you. Just about two hours east, you’ll find countless ways to enjoy the Texas sun while exploring its unique ecosystems. Head out to the Cattail Marsh Wetlands, a 900-acre preserve where you’ll find more than 350 species of birds, as well as other wildlife like alligators and aquatic mammals. You can hike, bike, and enjoy horseback rides here, while taking in the stunning views. And don’t forget the Beaumont Botanical Gardens and Gator Country Adventure Park.

Lafayette

Why not head out of state when this Louisiana destination is only about four hours away? Lafayette is famous for its Caribbean and Acadian cultural influences, and has been called the happiest city in America. Go for the incredible Cajun food, the lively zydeco music, the swamps and bayous, and the window into history that will take you back in time.
