Wide shot of Houston

We love our Houston sports teams here at Olympus Grand Crossing in Katy, Texas. Here are three intriguing storylines we’re looking forward to watching play out in 2021.

The New-Look Rockets

It might not end well for them, but the Rockets will be fascinating to watch in 2021. Gone are coach Mike D’Antoni and general manager Darly Morey. Superstar James Harden wants to be traded. Ex-Rocket star Russell Westbrook is now a Washington Wizard. Ex-Wizard star John Wall is now a Rocket. Seeing how incoming general manager Rafael Stone continues to reshape a team that has come oh so close to reaching the NBA Finals several times the past six seasons will be fascinating to watch.

Will the Astros Bounce Back?

The Astros were upended by the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Championship Series in a COVID-shortened 2020 run. It was an intriguing year as the ‘Stros became the villains of baseball thanks to a sign-stealing scandal that came to light in 2019. How the Astros bounce back in their second season with veteran manager Dusty Baker at the helm in 2021 will be fun to watch.

The NFL Draft

Why the NFL draft? Well, the Houston Texans will have a high pick thanks to a disappointing 2020 campaign that saw head coach/general manager Bill O’Brien ousted and quarterback Deshaun Watson left to carry the load. The Texans will look to rebuild around Watson once the offseason begins. They’ll have to find a new coach and general manager first. Then comes the April draft, in which the Texans have neither a first- nor second-round pick (at the moment). It’ll be an uphill climb for the Texans, but it'll be captivating to see how the offseason plays out.
