YOUR GUIDE FOR A PERFECT WEEKEND IN GALVESTON, TX

|

Just an hour and a half away from Katy is the perfect weekend destination: Galveston. This beautiful city on the gulf coast is filled with history and Southern tradition. Here are a few things to put on your must-see list next time you make your way down there.

Check Out Moody Gardens

It’s beautiful, it’s fun, and it’s educational – Moody Gardens has it all. Check out their three pyramids, in which you’ll find a rainforest to explore, an aquarium, and a discovery area filled with fun exhibits. There are also zip lines and ropes courses for the intrepid adventurer. And if you love golf, hit the Moody Gardens course for a fun afternoon in the sun.

Have Fun at Historic Pleasure Pier

Head out to this historic pier for a day of fun. The pier is filled with amusement park rides, games, and all kinds of entertainment opportunities. There are wonderful shops to browse and live music to enjoy. And of course, you’ll love all the indulgent food options.

Shop & Play Downtown

The downtown area is a vibrant, exciting part of the Galveston scene. Marvel at its beautiful, historic buildings and Victorian homes that date back to the 1880’s. Head over to The Strand and check out the boutiques, gift shops, and restaurants. Check out all the live entertainment available. And if you can, stay at the Tremont House so you can be right there in the heart of the city.

Visit the ELISSA

This ship is one of the oldest vessels in the world that still sails. It dates back to 1877 and has a long, fascinating history. While you’re there, you can also explore the Texas Seaport Museum and learn more about Galveston’s history as a thriving seaport.

Hit the Beach

How does 32 miles of beach sound? If you love spending time out in the sun or hitting the waves, then you’ll definitely want to enjoy the Galveston beaches. Try East Beach with its pavilion, boardwalks, chair and umbrella rentals, and alcohol-permitted atmosphere. If you’re looking for something a little more active, head over to Stewart beach and enjoy its concession stands and volleyball courts.
