TAKE YOUR TIME OFF OUTDOORS AT THESE 5 GORGEOUS GREEN SPACES NEAR KATY

|

Why not enjoy the beautiful outdoor spaces that Katy has to offer during your holiday break? Take advantage of Texas’ mild winter temperatures and beautiful scenery with a hike, stroll, or bike ride. This also happens to be a great way to get a jump-start on your 2022 health goals!

Here are a few places to start.

Mason Creek Hike & Bike Trail

Here, you’ll find a 2.6-mile riverside loop with light traffic. You can head out for a jog, walk, or ride on your bicycle. The views here are stunning and a great way to motivate yourself to get outdoors. Pro tip: Go for a stroll at sunset – you’ll be treated to a magical scene that will take your breath away.

Rick Rice Park

This park got its start back in 1974 and is known as a hidden gem by locals. Tucked away just off Westgreen Boulevard, you can roam the long, twisting paths, take a break on the lighted bridge that connects to the Mason Creek Hike & Bike Trail, and look for the inspirational words hiding along the trail, like “hope” and “love.” There are even educational signs along the way to teach visitors about the local flora and fauna. Pro tip: Be careful if you visit at dusk. This area tends to attract snakes once the sun begins to set.

Cross Creek Ranch

Rolling hills, lakes, waterways … this little community has it all. The landscaping is beautiful and peaceful and there are plenty of shaded benches on which to rest or simply take a moment to enjoy the scenery. It’s a perfect place for a little winter outdoors time. Pro tip: Bring your kayak!

Nottingham Country Greenbelt Park

How does two miles of trail winding through 900 beautiful trees sound to you? Even in winter, you’ll enjoy this beautiful, peaceful walk and easy trail. This park covers 44 acres and the trail is lit, making it an extra safe place to hike. Pro tip: Use the trail markers as motivation. (Just one more half-mile?)

George Bush Park

Take a short drive to Houston to enjoy this stunning, sprawling 7,800-acre park. It features beautiful fields, waterways, and over 11 miles of trail. Pro tip: Go on a weekend and see if you can cover the entire trail.
