While the weather’s cooling off, interior design trends just keep getting hotter. Here are three of the latest trends for fall 2021.
Yellow
Just like the sun, yellow is hot, hot, hot in fashion and design right now. For fall, skew towards rich, saturated shades of gold, saffron, and mustard, and incorporate pops of this bright color as an accent. Update your cottage chic look with a bold yellow velvet accent chair in your living room. Or layer some yellow throw pillows to your sofa or bed for a dash of playfulness.
Chunky Knits
Knit is the “it” texture this fall, and the chunkier, the better! Knits are everywhere, including on-trend home decor. A throw blanket is an obvious option, and it’s especially nice in a super-soft yarn that you’ll love to snuggle under. How about a knitted pouf to rest your feet on? You can also get a similar vibe from a macrame wall hanging that combines the chunky knit trend with boho chic appeal. Or pamper your bare feet with a rug in a chunky sweater knit style.
Partitions & Room Dividers
This one’s probably not surprising as more of us continue working and learning from home. In many cases, the guest room doubles as your office, or the living room is also a homework station. This is where decorative partitions and screens can be a lifesaver. They provide a sense of separation without requiring any construction, keep your personal belongings or messy kitchen out of sight during your Zoom meetings, and keep your office mess out of sight when you have company over. Win-win-win! Make it fun by picking a style that matches your design aesthetic: Scandi minimalist, midcentury retro, patterned and vibrant, or whatever style you love.
