Have you been trying to get more involved with the local community and lend a hand? Here are a few ways to give back to the Irving community this back-to-school season.
Shoes That Fit
Growing children typically grow out of their shoes at least twice a year, especially those who are active. Shoes That Fit provides new sneakers to kids around the country to better fit them for playtime. There are a few ways to give back, including donating money or shoes. You can also directly impact your local community by starting a group! With as few as 10 pairs of shoes, you can start a group to give back this season.
Donors Choose
With strained budgets, teachers frequently invest money to keep supplies and learning tools in their own classrooms. Donors Choose is a crowdfunding platform that allows you to browse local classrooms and specific needs, so you can learn more about where needs are, and decide where to give back.
Supply Drive
Another great way to give back is to take part in a school supply drive. If you’re out shopping, pick up some extra markers, backpacks, and notebooks. Then it’s as easy as dropping off the supplies at a local drive. Olympus Las Colinas is hosting a back-to-school drive starting Aug. 10 and continuing through Aug. 21. All donations will go to our local Boys & Girls Club. You can simply drop off any donations at the front office.
