CHECK OUT THESE AMAZING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN IRVING

|

Volunteering is a wonderful way to help the community whether you enjoy spending time with homeless animals or people in need.

If you're searching for an opportunity, here a few organizations that always welcome new volunteers:

DFW HUMANE SOCIETY

Established in 1967, the DFW Humane Society is a no-kill shelter that works to give neglected and unwanted pets a second chance through adoption. It rescues over 900 cats and dogs every year and provides them with loving care until they find a forever home.

The volunteers play an integral role in daily operations. They perform an array of duties including socializing cats, bathing dogs, and visiting schools to teach pet care basics.

IRVING CARES

At Irving Cares, the mission is to provide focused assistance to area residents facing a financial crisis. It was founded in 1957 by a group of citizens who were interested in the social welfare of their community. Irving Cares has won several nonprofit awards, and eighty cents of every dollar donated goes into the community as a program related expense.

Volunteers are always needed, and last year, they logged a combined 21,974 hours. Jobs include case management, data entry, and working in the food pantry to fill orders and sort groceries.

TRINITY RIVER AUDUBON CENTER

Nestled ten minutes south of downtown Dallas, the Trinity River Audubon Center is the largest urban hardwood forest in the United States. It's home to dozens of bird species, and miles of trails lead hikers through hardwood forests, wetland, pond, and prairie ecosystems.

Nature enthusiasts can donate their time during Saturday workdays. Projects vary monthly and include restoring wetland habitats and removing invasive species.
