4 OF THE BEST PET HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS

|

Incidents at the dog park. Unexpected illnesses. Costly vaccinations. While enormously rewarding, owning a pet can also be rather costly. A pet insurance plan is a great way to help relieve some of the financial burden. Here are four to consider for your four-legged best friend.

Pets Best

Pets Best offers insurance plans for cats and dogs that are both comprehensive and affordable. Depending on the tier of coverage you choose, Pets Best plans cover up to 90% of the cost on things like accidents, illnesses, hereditary and congenital conditions, and emergency care. You can also opt for add-on wellness coverage for routine vet visits, vaccinations, dental cleaning, and spaying or neutering.

ASPCA

You probably know the ASPCA for its activism in the animal rights realm, but the organization also offers pet health insurance. Good for cats and dogs, ASPCA plans cover accidents, illnesses, hereditary and congenital conditions, and even behavioral health issues. Depending on the tier of coverage you choose, ASPCA insurance reimburses up to 90% of covered costs. Another perk of ASPCA: You’re free to visit any veterinarian.

Healthy Paws

Healthy Paws plans are affordable and cover a comprehensive list of things – accidents, illnesses, surgeries, prescriptions, and hospital stays. Healthy Paws is known for quickly processing claims, and you can visit any licensed veterinarian. Also of note, their plans offer no annual caps on claim payouts.

Pet Assure

Pet Assure is technically a veterinary discount plan as opposed to traditional insurance, but it’s worthy of a spot on this list regardless. Its affordable plans give you a 25% discount on medical care performed by veterinarians in Pet Assure’s network. There are a few drawbacks – that it covers only 25%, for instance – but there are plenty of pros, too. For starters, all pets are eligible – even llamas, its site claims – and there are no limitations on age or pre-existing conditions.
