Did you know that Houston is home to an underground tunnel system?
Found twenty feet underneath the streets of downtown, it began as a tunnel between two movie theaters.
Today, the system connects 95 city blocks and features shops, restaurants, and entertainment destinations.
As one of the country's leading nonprofit theaters, the Alley produces several productions every year ranging from re-invigorated classics to new plays written by contemporary writers. It's home to a resident company of actors who reach more than 200,000 people annually through performances and educational programs.
MINUTE MAID PARK
Once called the Ballpark at Union Station, Minute Maid Park is the home of the Houston Astros. It's the city's first retractable-roof stadium and features the classic feel of an old-time park with the amenities of a modern one.
Visitors can learn more and the stadium on a ballpark tour. They're offered year-round Monday through Saturday, and the knowledgeable guide takes everyone to the visiting clubhouse and the Houston Astros Hall of Fame while discussing the park's history.
Locally owned and operated since 1985, Becks Prime believes in fresh food cooked to perfection. Its motto is "No Freezers, No Microwaves, No Compromises," and the chef's famous burgers are made using 100 percent Angus beef chuck roast. The burgers are grilled to order over 1000 degree mesquite coals and are served on an egg bun. The Daily Meal says that the restaurant serves one of the top 40 burgers in America, while Zagat recognizes its delicious shakes. Burger choices include California, Bubba, and Shroom, and they can be enjoyed with a side of fries.
