Looking for a fun (and safe) way to play in Frisco on New Year’s Day? Well Day 1 DFW offers three exciting options that are part of one event. Formerly known as Day 1 Dallas, this is a great way for people of all ages to kick off the New Year, and proceeds benefit Vogel Alcove, a nonprofit for homeless children and their families. This year’s event incorporates in-person, socially distanced, and virtual components, so there’s something to fit everyone’s comfort zone. Get ready to celebrate 2021 in style.
In-Person Fun & Games
The in-person activities in Frisco are held at Main Event (9375 Dallas Pkwy.) and include unlimited access, from 9 AM until closing, to the venue’s bowling, billiards, laser tag, ropes course, mini golf, and karaoke. Face painting and photo booths are also available for an extra fee. State and local COVID-19 health precautions and capacity restrictions will be in place.
The Virtual Experience
Tune in from the comfort of your own home, between 9 AM and 7:30 PM, to see live and pre-recorded performances from magician Grant Price, animals with Wildlife on the Move, and Star Wars characters from the 501st Legion. Take part in a scavenger hunt, take a hula lesson, a cooking class, or play virtual bingo or trivia, and more. It all culminates in the live-streamed fireworks show that begins at 7 PM.
Free Drive-In Fireworks
What makes a glittering fireworks display even better? When you can enjoy it for free from the safety of your ride, of course. Based at Toyota Stadium (200 World Cup Way), the venue opens for parking at 6 PM and the fireworks will begin lighting up the sky at 7 PM. Snacks will be available for purchase from your vehicle, and parking is available on a first-come, first-parked basis.
Tickets for all-access entry to the in-person activities at Main Event Frisco on Jan. 1, 2021, cost $15 (which includes a $10 FUNcard and bowling shoes). Tickets must be pre-purchased by noon on December 31, and wristbands collected at the venue before 5 PM on the day of the event. Virtual Experience Tickets cost $10 and you will receive a link to the event in your confirmation email. Tickets for both events are available online.
