Spend Time with Creatures Big and Small at These Zoos in Fort Worth, TX

Have a Wild Time at These Zoos near Fort Worth, TX

A trip to a local zoo can be a lot of fun! And fortunately for our residents, we have several awesome zoos (some of the best in the country) just minutes away from our luxury apartments in Fort Worth, Texas. Take a look at a few of our top picks below, and then go wild at the zoo.

Fort Worth Zoo

More than 7,000 creatures call the Fort Worth Zoo home. This zoo has tons of habitats and animals for you to check out, like the World of Primates, Raptor Canyon, and the African Savannah. If you're looking for something a little more hands-on, then stop by Stingray Cove, the all-new, interactive exhibit where guests can get up close and personal with a variety of stingrays and small sharks as they swim through the shallow saltwater pool. You might even get a chance to meet their newest arrival, a baby Asian elephant named Brazos. Plus, this zoo is open 365 days a year, so you can go whenever you'd like.

Dallas Zoo

Established in 1888, the Dallas Zoo is the oldest (and the biggest) zoological park in the state of Texas. This zoo offers tons of animals to see and exhibits to explore, but it also gives guests lots of opportunities to get hands-on with some of the animals. For example, you can hand-feed a giraffe, get eye-to-eye with a hippo, or go pet some of the baby animals. The only day this zoo is closed is Christmas Day. Plan your trip and reserve tickets online for this busy destination.

Dallas World Aquarium

Built in a massive, refurbished warehouse in 1992, the aquarium part of the zoo showcases penguins, sharks, sea dragons, and stingrays–among lots of other marine life. But the Dallas World Aquarium is so much more than just a bunch of fish. Dozens of species of frogs, turtles, birds, monkeys, sloths, and more reside here, and you will have the ability to see smaller species up close. DWA is open seven days a week, making it easy to explore at your convenience.

And if you're still looking for some more awesome outdoor activities, once you're done exploring the local zoos, you can check out these amazing walking trails near our Fort Worth apartments.
