Did you know that the Apollo 11 astronauts took guacamole to space?
However, they didn't eat it, as according to Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, "Buzz Aldrin ate all of the chips before we left Earth."
If you would like to enjoy this delicious dip as an appetizer, head to one of the following restaurants:
Uncle Julio's Mexican Restaurant
It was in 1986 when the first Uncle Julio's opened in Dallas. The restaurant quickly gained popularity as it offered an unparalleled Tex-Mex experience with meals made from locally grown ingredients. Guests enjoy the friendly service and vibrant atmosphere that's complete with colorful walls, chandeliers, and large windows. Try the tableside guacamole that can be kicked up a notch with freshly chopped jalapeños.
At Cantina Laredo, the chefs create authentic Mexican cuisine inspired by the dishes of Mexico City. The dining room offers an elegant, yet casual atmosphere with a fireplace, flowers, and tables covered in white cloths, and it's the perfect destination for date night or a leisurely meal with the friends. The menu includes top shelf guacamole that's prepared tableside.
Mexican Inn Cafe
Since 1936, the Mexican Inn Cafe has served Tex-Mex specialties to the people of North Texas. It was founded by Tiffin Hall when he opened the first location at 5th and Commerce in a building that was already fifty years old. Instead of using traditional advertising methods, he used his pet burro Star. Tiffin allowed the animal to wander the streets of downtown draped with a cloth that encouraged people to visit the restaurant, and when Star grew tired, he returned to the back door where he begged for tortillas. In the kitchen, the chefs make delicious guacamole that's served with chips only found at the cafe.
