During these trying times, you may feel like reaching out and connecting with others who are in need. If you’re interested in volunteering and making a difference, here are a few easy ways to help out in your community.
Support Local Business
Local businesses have been hit hard during COVID-19. Consider getting what you can from local shops who could really use your support. Check out this valuable resource to keep updated on which restaurants offer curbside pickup and/or delivery. If you do not feel comfortable going out or ordering food or other items during the pandemic, you can still help out local businesses by purchasing gift cards to be used during a safer time.
Shop for the Immunocompromised
If you have a friend or family member who is immunocompromised, why not offer to do their grocery shopping for them? For those who could face significant health problems by contracting the virus, having a friend do their shopping for them can help minimize risk. Be sure to follow CDC guidelines to keep yourself – and your loved ones – protected.
Donate
If you have the means to do so, donating can be a safe, easy way to help out in a big way. It feels good to give. Below is a list of a few local nonprofit organizations that could use your support:
- Humane Society of North Texas
- Information Technology Disaster Resource Center Inc
- Just for J
- Fort Worth Hope Center
- Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County
- Hope Center for Autism
- Nature's Edge Wildlife & Reptile Rescue
