With the holiday season behind us, it's time to gear up for meeting our New Year's resolutions. Whether you choose to lose weight, exercise more, or just get out more, these three walking trails can help you start 2022 on the right foot.
Trinity Trails
Trinity Trails is one of the most impressive urban trail systems in the country. The trail's network extends throughout the city and provides a nice opportunity for walking, jogging or biking. The closest point of Trinity Trails to The Davis is near I-820 and Randol Mill Road. The entire trail system is over 100 miles long.
River Legacy Park
This park is considered "the crown jewel" of Arlington's park system and is only a 20-minute drive from The Davis. The park's 1,300 acres provide a pleasant green escape from the city. It is a perfect spot for nature lovers, as you can find over 400 species of wildlife in the park, including nearly 200 bird species. Also at the park is the impressive River Legacy Living Science Center. For something truly unique, there's a life-size T. rex skeleton near the playground.
Preserve at McCormick Park
On the other side of the city is the Preserve at McCormick Park. This is probably the best option if you're in a hurry, as it's only an eight-minute drive from The Davis. The preserve spans 27 acres, neighbors two other parks, and boasts a pet station for explorers with furry friends.
While small, the preserve does have a historic tree grove that serves as an education point for students. Guided tours are available for those who want to learn more about these unique trees.
