Fort Worth Zoo

The Fort Worth Zoo is the oldest and largest zoo in Texas. It was founded in 1909 by the Fort Worth Zoological Society and has been operated by that organization since its inception. In addition to housing over 2,000 animals of more than 250 species, it includes many other facilities such as an aquarium and botanical gardens. The Fort Worth Zoo also offers educational programs for both adults and children including animal shows, petting zoos and feeding opportunities with some of their more popular animals such as elephants or lemurs (which can be fed).

 

Stockyards Petting Zoo

The Petting Zoo at the Fort Worth Stockyards is an open-air petting zoo located in Fort Worth, Texas. It's open year round with hours from 10 AM to 6 PM and admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12. The animals include goats, pigs, sheep and donkeys. There are also chickens that you can feed pellets to or walk around on a rope line. The petting zoo has lots of activities for kids—including face painting (for adults too!), balloon sculptures and even balloon animals!
