ALL DOLLED UP: 3 OF OUR FAVORITE CRAZY EXPENSIVE BARBIES

|

Barbie dolls are forever – and may even be worth a small fortune. Created by American businesswoman Ruth Handler, Barbie made her debut in March of 1959 and quickly became a fashion icon. Today, many Barbie dolls sell for hundreds and even thousands of dollars to collectors who can’t get enough of their favorite fashion mini-icon. Let’s look at a few of these high-priced toys and rummage through our closets to see if we have any of them lying around.

Haunted Beauty Zombie Bride Barbie Doll

Originally sold for $100, Haunted Beauty Zombie Bride Barbie Doll can now be found on auction sites for over a grand. And it’s easy to see why. This Barbie is drop-dead gorgeous. Notice her gray and off-white stain gown, lace overskirt and sleeves, faux pearl necklace, and the spooky veil flowing from her floral tiara. And that face sculpt? Perfection. This is one that would stand out in any collection.

Marie Antoinette Barbie Doll

Maybe we’re just history nerds – or maybe we’re big Kirsten Dunst fans. Either way, we can’t help but love this limited edition Marie Antoinette Barbie Doll. Granted, you’d have to be royalty yourself to be able to afford it, but nevertheless! Part of the 2003 Women of Royalty Series, this doll picturing the former Queen of France includes stunning details, from her regal blue gown and matching bodice to the handcrafted porcelain pair of roses she daintily holds in her hand.

Ferrari Barbie Doll

If her name didn’t clue you in, Ferrari Barbie Doll takes inspiration from the luxury sports car brand. We love her old-school glamour – the stunning red evening gown, the feathered stole, and the long red gloves all come together to create a classic look. And the finishing touch? Barbie’s meticulously styled updo holds its shape thanks to her silver ornament, shaped like the Ferrari horse. Barbie can take anything and make it fashionable.
