It’s National Hot Breakfast Month! Celebrate in style by skipping the usual chain restaurants and treating yourself to a great plate from a locally owned eatery. Here are the best hot breakfast picks near Buda. 

Ovenbird

This small cafe serves central and eastern European specialties. The menu is limited, but everything is made from scratch with high-quality ingredients. Baked goods are a highlight, and the coffee is great too.   

Phoebe’s Diner 

Phoebe’s has two locations, with one on the far south end of Austin on Oltorf Street. Breakfasts range from diner standards like biscuits and gravy and omelets to more interesting Tex-Mex fare. Try the deep fried french toast or the brisket benny for a truly indulgent experience.  

Veracruz All Natural

This is South Texas, so there has to be a taco place on the list!  Veracruz All Natural has several trucks in the Austin area serving terrific breakfast tacos, but the one closest to Buda also sits next to Radio Coffee & Beer. With ample indoor and outdoor seating, you can linger over your coffee and tacos. 

Magnolia Cafe

Magnolia Cafe has been around for over 40 years and is still going strong as a great destination for diner-style breakfast. Dine inside or on their large covered patio. You can’t go wrong with any of their hearty options, but why not try gingerbread banana pecan pancakes? You're not likely to find those anywhere else!
