There’s a reason the Texas Legislature named Buda, Texas, the “Outdoor Capital of Texas.” It all makes sense as you explore the 13 scenic parks this beautiful city has to offer. Enjoy Buda’s many hiking and biking trails, with plenty of other extra park amenities like picnic areas, ball fields, sports courts, and playgrounds, right in your own neighborhood. Here are four of our favorite neighborhood parks in Buda.
Bradfield Village Park
There’s something for everyone at Bradfield Village Park, which offers 31 acres of public land to roam. The highlights include two fishing ponds (one stocked with blue and channel catfish!), a playground, picnic tables, benches, barbecue stations, and more. While there’s plenty to enjoy for all, experienced anglers – or those just getting into fishing – will love the opportunity to cast in the middle of town.
Buda City Park
Located directly in the heart of downtown Buda, Buda City Park sits on 7 acres of land and is home to a variety of family-friendly events, including Movies in the Park, the Fajita Fiesta, and BudaFest. Grab a ball and head over to one of the two full-sized basketball courts for a game with friends. The kids will enjoy the playground with a small rock climbing wall. And with plenty of picnic tables and benches located throughout, it’s a fantastic spot to bring a picnic lunch and lounge in the sun.
Jackson Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park
More than a skate park, the Jackson Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park holds a lot of sentimentality to the community of Buda. The park offers a safe space for skaters of all skill levels to enjoy the sport. This wildly popular park, named after a skateboard-loving Buda teenager who died in 2011, is a place for kids to learn a new skill and stay out of trouble.
Buda Sportsplex
Calling all sports lovers! The city’s newest park, Buda Sportsplex, is a 52-acre park that will leave sports fanatics feeling motivated and inspired after a day at the field or court. In addition to the softball and recreation fields, there’s an extensive trail system, a playground, plenty of park land to explore, and biking areas. Gather some friends for a round of kickball, and if you’re really getting into the spirit, rent out the concession stand!
There’s no better time of the year than now to get outside and enjoy the amazing parks that Buda has to offer. Gear up, lace up, and head outdoors to these four places to get out and play in Buda.
