If you enjoy picking your own fruits and vegetables, or just want to get acquainted with your local family owned farm, then a visit to Smith Perry Berries is a must. They are located at 9626 Ooltewah Georgetown Road, only eight and a half miles from the Legends at White Oak apartments in Ooltewah, TN. There you can find large fields filled with gorgeous sunflowers, wildflowers, corn, pumpkins, and strawberries. What you find will depend on when you visit, of course, and this fall is a great time to plan your first visit!
PUMPKIN PATCH TIME
Starting in September, pumpkin season is a busy time for Smith Perry Berries Farm. Offering not only pumpkins but also hay bales and dried corn stalks, Smith Perry's is an autumn lovers decorating haven! Open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. during any harvesting season, the friendly, welcoming atmosphere is well worth the ten minute drive from Ooltewah Town Square. Be sure to check out their barn art during your visit for an insightful look at the inner workings of a working farm!
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Smith Perry Berries is a joint venture, family owned and operated by longtime friends and farmers Aubie Smith and Bill Perry, and they don't just provide fresh, healthy food for our community. They have found other ways to give as well. They have partnered with the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation's scholarship program, providing scholarship funds for children who have had a parent battle cancer. During strawberry season in the spring, you can purchase a pink bucket to fill and a portion of those proceeds will go to that scholarship fund. During the very short sunflower season in the summer, the pink buckets are again available.
YEAR ROUND FUN CLOSE TO HOME
If you miss the fall fun, don't worry! Something is nearly always sprouting at Smith Perry Berries. From strawberries in the early spring until pumpkins through late fall, these fields are worth a visit almost year round.
