Enjoy a Day at the Chattanooga Zoo Near Ooltewah
For a fun-filled way to learn about wildlife, head to the Chattanooga Zoo. It creates meaningful connections between people and animals and features innovative exhibits and fun educational programs. Here is some of what the zoo offers near our Ooltewah apartments:
Gombe Forest
Step into the Gombe Forest to get face-to-face with the zoo's famous chimpanzees. Native to Africa, chimpanzees are known for being intelligent and social animals. In the wild, they live in communities of between 10 and 180 individuals. They mainly consume fruit, though, at times, they may also eat meat. Chimpanzees are considered an endangered species. Threats include poaching, disease, and habitat loss.
Himalayan Passage
Himalayan Passage allows you to retrace the steps of Marco Polo. It offers a fascinating journey, and along the way, you'll see animals like the elusive snow leopards. In their native habitat, they're most active at dusk and dawn. Snow leopards often eat wild sheep and goats and hunt a large animal every eight to ten days. Other creatures within Himalayan Passage include Chinese alligators, red pandas, and white-cheeked gibbons.
WILD Encounters
Book a WILD Encounter for an experience you won't soon forget. You'll head behind the scenes to see some of the zoo's most fascinating animals. You'll learn how the keepers provide care and much more. Reservations must be made online. The encounters last around thirty minutes, and you can register to meet meerkats, red pandas, komodo dragons, or fennec foxes.
Gift Shop
Before you leave, stop by the gift shop. It opens daily at 9:00 a.m., and is where you'll find plush gifts, educational toys, home decor, and other items. Zoo members receive ten percent off their purchases.
After a day at the zoo, enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. Finally, if you would like to call The Legends at White Oak home, please contact us. Our leasing team will help you discover everything you can enjoy as a resident of our apartments in Ooltewah.
