Grab your laptop, invite your friends, and have a laugh with these four online party games.
Codenames
Codenames is a guessing game that requires at least four people split into two teams. Each team nominates a codemaster. The board is made of cards that each have a word on them, and only the codemasters have the key to what the words mean. Taking turns, the codemasters must give their teammates one word hints to help them guess which words are theirs. The first team to guess all of their words wins. But be careful! There is an assassin card that is an automatic loss if someone picks it. Codenames is free to play online. Just create a game and send your friends the link.
Cards Against Humanity
Cards Against Humanity is marketed as a party game for terrible people. It plays similar to Apples to Apples, where a card czar will play a black card with a sentence on it that has a blank space. Players then play a white card to fill in the blank and the card czar will choose the most hilarious or accurate answer. There are several free versions online, but one of the most popular is found at Xyzzy.
Gartic Phone
If you remember playing the game telephone when you were younger, Gartic Phone is a play on that simple concept with an added drawing component. Each person comes up with a sentence, and the next person has to draw the prompt. After that, the drawing will go to another person and they have to type out what they think the prompt is, and the process repeats until every person has drawn or guessed the prompt. The game can be played through your browser or on your smartphone.
Jackbox TV
Jackbox is the original online party game, with eight different party packs currently out on Steam and all consoles. Only one person has to own the game, and they will cast it to the other players. Players then join through the browser link or through their phones. There are a variety of different games to play, including high stakes trivia, discovering which of your friends is secretly an alien, and a robot rap battle simulator.
