3 FUN LONG-WEEKEND DESTINATIONS NEAR OOLTEWAH

|

Now’s the time to get in that last-minute travel and enjoy a long weekend away. Lucky for you, Ooltewah is located in a region peppered with prime weekend getaways. Here are a few of our favorites.

Knoxville, Tennessee

This bustling and friendly Southern town is known for its beautiful attractions. And best of all, most of them can be enjoyed on foot. Be sure to check out the Sunsphere, which was built for the 1982 World’s Fair. As of this writing, indoor tours are temporarily unavailable, but it’s still a must-see and an amazing photo op. While you’re there, take a stroll through the World’s Fair Park, one of the most beautiful natural recreation areas in the city.

Market Square has so much to see that you might end up spending your entire weekend there, strolling through the shops, sampling the amazing food, and taking in the live music and entertainment. But if you want to see it all, other attractions include the Zoo Knoxville, McClung Museum of Natural History & Culture, the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Knoxville Museum of Art – just to name a few!

Marietta, Georgia

This destination has all the charm of small-town life, combined with a lively, electric, urban feel, thanks to its proximity to Atlanta. There is lots to see here just in Marietta Square alone. You can stop at the visitor’s center to pick up maps for your weekend getaway, stroll through Glover Park, and enjoy a great meal at one of the many restaurants featuring local and global cuisine.

Other must-see stops include: Marietta Museum of History, William Root House, Gone with the Wind Museum, and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.

Asheville, North Carolina

Clocking in at about three and a half hours, this is on the longer side for a daytrip – but it’s oh-so worth it! This town is famous for its architecture, history, and art scene. Start downtown and enjoy the patio dining and live entertainment on nearly every street corner. Browse the art galleries, and visit the open-air Grove Arcade.

A few more locations you’ll want to visit include the Biltmore, Pisgah National Forest, and the Folk Art Center.
