Nashville is the "Songwriting Capital of the World," and several songwriting venues around town are always filled with locals as they serve delicious meals and offer fabulous live music.
Those not to be missed include:
The Bluebird Cafe
Known as one of the premier listening rooms, The Bluebird Cafe has gained worldwide recognition as a songwriter's performance space. Found in a strip mall, the cafe has an unassuming appearance, and it's where artists such as Phil Vassar and LeAnn Rimes mingle with the writers. The intimate atmosphere makes guests feel as though they are a part of the show, and reservations often fill up weeks in advance. The menu includes fish & chips, smoked pork sandwiches, and spicy black bean burgers, along with a spinach artichoke dip that is the perfect start to any meal.
The Listening Room Cafe
Built on live music, The Listening Room Cafe opened in 2006 after Chris Blair made a big career change based on hopes, dreams, and faith. His goal is to showcase songs in their purest form, and the cafe attracts some of the biggest songwriters and artists in the music industry. Guests always enjoy friendly service, and the dining room comes complete with exposed brick, twinkling lights, and plenty of tables. The varied menu includes Yazoo chili, turkey apple crisp sandwiches, and braised beef short ribs.
The Row Kitchen & Pub
The Row has been a hangout for legendary Music Row songwriters for thirty years. It's where Earl Bud Lee sold the rights to "Friends in Low Places" for a bar tab, and Brooks and Dunn became known. The pub is also famous for serving the best breakfast in Nashville, and the chefs have more than 100 years of combined culinary experience. Depending on the time of day, the menu may include smoked salmon scrambles, cornmeal catfish, and Nashville fried hot chicken.
