The path stretches nearly eight miles one way and eventually turns into a dirt forest road. A suggested starting site is the San Miguel Mission, known for its architecture.

Santa Fe Rail Trail

True to its name, the Santa Fe Rail Trail follows the old Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway lines. It starts at Railroad Park and later meanders through hilly, red dirt terrain, set amongst a beautiful landscape of juniper, yucca, and pinon trees. Runners enjoying a long workout will venture into Lamy. In this century-old railroad town, you can take a break and explore the Lamy Railroad and History Museum before getting back on the trail. The path spans 16.8 miles.

Sun Mountain Trail

Popular among runners and hikers alike, the Sun Mountain Trail is a singletrack route where you will see a range of flora and fauna. It starts with relatively easy terrain before featuring rocky switchbacks that get steeper toward the mid-section of the mountain. Toward the top, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the Sandia Mountains to the south and the Jemez Mountains to the west.
